June, 1973

… Pam Beacham and John Halifax each won a champagne dinner for two for naming the two golf courses: Lakes and Oaks.

… Mens golf Pro-Am was cancelled due to lack of participation

… The monthly Golf Etiquette Night was held June 22. Editor's note: It is obvious to the editor, that as of 1998, we could benefit by bringing this night back into our activities!

… Bridge (ladies and couples) sessions were in action.

… Saturdays, bands played for the member's enjoyment: Jim Gregory Band on June 9, 16, 23 and the Monitors Band on June 2, 30.

June, 1974

…. NRCC membership will vote soon on purchase of the club. The only plan now being offered requires a $500 deposit by Sept. 1 and $2,000 additional by Dec. 31.

September, 1974

…. NRCC membership approved the purchase of the country club for $3,725,000.

July, 1975

… NRCC membership is at 467.

November 1976

… Final plan for purchase of the club is scheduled for Dec. 31, 1976 for $2,400,000.

… It was projected there would be 818 members at end Dec. 1983. The dues are expected to be $75 in 1983 with a total revenue of $808,485 and operating costs of $631,000.

January, 1979

… Cart rental increased from $4.50 to $5.00.

July, 1980

… With over 650 members now, and a goal of 750 or less, consideration is being made for raising the entrance fees.

… It was expected that the ala cart dining would average $13,200 per month. Questions were brought up why members are not taking advantage of the dining facility even enough to meet this average.

…. For the first half of 1980, the greens fees had brought in $23,008 ($3,000 over budget). Cart rental income was on budget at $29,250.

February, 1981

… NRCC Board voted to close the membership at 725 members (current membership is 660).

Early 1984

… Land sale, adjoining Lakes #5, #7, #8, #9, resulting in $473,000, was used with an additional $42,000 from cash reserve, to completely repay the mortgage.

 

Early 1988

… NRCC Board decides to rebuild the 18 greens of the inside 9s on the Oaks and the Lakes. This action resulted in a controversy, with a number of members forming a "Concerned Members" committee who opposed the board's decision and asked for a member's vote on the subject. Editor's note: We could not find the exact outcome of the votes, etc. The greens were eventually redone in a staged matter.

Late 1990

… A green's renovation ballot was sent to all members.

… In addition a Clubhouse Improvement plan was sent to the members. Key items were casual dining, a larger Pro shop, fitness room, and locker room renovation.

… Capital project fees were added to the monthly fee. $25 for Class A members.

August 1991

… Total estimate for the clubhouse addition is conveyed to the members as: $3,551,000.

April, 1992

… A special meeting of the members was held to set a limit on the number of resident members having golf privileges. This ended up by an addition to the bylaws, restricting the number of resident members having golfing privileges to 855.

Mid 1992

… A member survey was sent out regarding long range plans for clubhouse renovation. Editor's note: By this time the casual dining, pro shop, fitness room, locker room work was completed.

 

May 1995

… A brochure showing planned clubhouse renovation work was distributed to members. Together with a total budget projection of $5,558,000. This included Main Clubhouse renovation, new ballroom, new pool house, new tennis clubhouse, and renovation of the halfway houses. The members approved the plan and an assessment on June 27, 1995.… The member assessment for this was $6,000.

Editor's note: The cost eventually was higher than the budget projection and resulted in further member/board meetings.
